Emanuel Temple is beneath the large oak on Main Street in Opelousas, Louisiana. It was built in the 1920's. It had a congregation of about 50 families at the time. The temple is now used by a Christian congregation as the Jewish community dwindled down so much and they started going to temples in towns where there were larger congregations.
I am a Cajun-Creole grandmother who was raised in South Central Louisiana and I am trying to preserve my culture as well as the things I imagine. My Primitive Folk Art preserves the simple way of life that I love. I love my culture and the place where I live and I want to share it!! Watching over my father's shoulder is how I learned to paint.
