The Courir de Mardi Gras is a coming of age event in some towns. The boys must wait till they are a certain age or until they are a good enough horse rider, or they can drive a 3 wheeler or something else that the community has set as the requirement. The men are always impressed when the first time Courir de Mardi Gras participants can get the largest or fastest chicken.

I am a Cajun-Creole grandmother who was raised in South Central Louisiana and I am trying to preserve my culture as well as the things I imagine.
