As I painted Love, I used red to show passion. I used a series of circles to show that love is infinite. Silver, gold, and black are used to represent the good, the bad, and the mundane times. I thought of the love a mother has for her children. The thousands of dirty dishes and diapers, the endless supply of hugs and kisses are represented by circles. Each act of kindness another drop in that ocean of Love. I thought of a father's love. The endless hours of work to provide for their family, their time spent fixing toys, teaching lessons, encouragement to be strong. I thought of the love between spouses. The thousands of acts of kindness, forgiveness, and generosity. I thought of Agape Love, the Love the Creator has for His creation, the continual flow of blessings and lessons. Each day we love is another act of the will and each a circle in time and together they form an image of Love.
I am a Cajun-Creole grandmother who was raised in South Central Louisiana and I am trying to preserve my culture as well as the things I imagine. My Primitive Folk Art preserves the simple way of life that I love. I love my culture and the place where I live and I want to share it!! Watching over my father's shoulder is how I learned to paint.
