As I studied the leaves of the squash I noticed this beautiful leaf that had become food for the caterpillars. Many would say that the leaf fails to show beauty. If one looks at the leaf as a food for the beautiful butterfly that the caterpillar who ate from it will become there is a deeper beauty. I laid my aged hand upon the delicate leaf and examined the hand that cooked many a meal, painted many a picture, wiped many a tear, held many a baby.... and I saw beauty in each ripple for each tells a story and together the story paints my life!

I am a Cajun-Creole grandmother who was raised in South Central Louisiana and I am trying to preserve my culture as well as the things I imagine. My Primitive Folk Art preserves the simple way of life that I love. I love my culture and the place where I live and I want to share it!! Watching over my father's shoulder is how I learned to paint.
