There seemed to be a family altar everywhere I went as a child. Some were very ornate and I imagined they would belong in a grand cathedral. Others were simple like this one. Mama's was simple, but one thing was certain summer, winter, spring, or fall there would be fresh flowers on hers.
I am a Cajun-Creole grandmother who was raised in South Central Louisiana and I am trying to preserve my culture as well as the things I imagine. My Primitive Folk Art preserves the simple way of life that I love. I love my culture and the place where I live and I want to share it!! Watching over my father's shoulder is how I learned to paint.
