I am a Cajun-Creole grandmother who was raised in South Central Louisiana and I am trying to preserve my culture as well as the things I imagine. My Primitive Folk Art preserves the simple way of life that I love. I love my culture and the place where I live and I want to share it!! Watching over my father's shoulder is how I learned to paint. He did primitive folk art for local shops. I took several art classes in college as well as private lessons from some of Acadiana's finest artist beginning when my oldest child was in kindergarten. Thank you, Debby! The statue sits on a small marble shelf about 8 feet off the ground. I thought of getting on a ladder but I feared the statue would loose the feeling of being a real heavenly being. Instead I knelt to take the image to give it the same angle that I saw and loved as a child. The statue is life size. It is high.
