Chicken Tree Ablaze With Color features a Chinese Tallow tree with bright fall colors. The picture was taken in south central Louisiana in an area referred to as Acadiana. The Chinese Tallow is often called the "Chicken Tree" because people living in the area noticed how much chickens loved roosting in the trees and eating the tree's seeds. The seeds were often collected in fall to feed the chickens in winter.
I am a Cajun-Creole grandmother who was raised in South Central Louisiana and I am trying to preserve my culture as well as the things I imagine. My Primitive Folk Art preserves the simple way of life that I love. I love my culture and the place where I live and I want to share it!! Watching over my father's shoulder is how I learned to paint.
