I was a young child during the Vietnam War. Young brides whose brave husbands were at war were plentiful in my neighborhood. This beautiful Gothic style church was only a couple miles from my home. My Dad always made a point to stop in for a short prayer when we passed the church. So often we found young brides praying. As the pages of History turned there were other prayer warriors who flocked to the church to pray for soldiers of other wars, for family members who suffered from addictions, for those who were abandoned or for who abandoned them. They prayed for their children who abandoned the faith, for those who were sick or dying. Children from the school next door stopped to pray and so did their parents and grandparents. So many from the hospital only a block away came for their accident victims and in thanksgiving for a healthy birth or healing for their loved one. The light burns for those who pray and those who need prayers.

When capturing the culture of the...
