Description
Mardi Gras revelers gathered at my Grandma's house in the small community of Grand Prairie, Louisiana. I have heard that my Grandfather would climb on the chicken coop and throw two chickens out at a time. The revelers caught the chickens and used them for a community gumbo. Grandpa died when I was an infant so I never saw him do this. I painted Grandma with rice for the gumbo. my favorite thing to watch when I went to the Mardi Gras at Grandma's was the costumed riders who would dance on the backs of the horses.
