Description
The first of the tropical storms passed through Acadiana today and all week I have been longing to see a Magnolia close enough to take pictures. I was in town and the rains had slacked to the point that I could head back home. As I was getting in my car I noticed this blossom and despite the gloomy day and weather forecast I took out my camera and got this image. It was definitely the capture I was longing for. The Magnolia is Louisiana's state flower as well as the state flower of Mississippi. These blossoms grow on small trees and are seen throughout the southern states. There scent is one captured in many products that bring the charm of the south to homes around the globe. The I have seen blossoms 12-15 inches across. There cut life is short and I think that may be why there are so many images of southern ladies picking Magnolias.
