Joyeux Noel is the folk art of Seaux N. Seau Soileau. As a Cajun Creole she was raised on stories of Papa Noel bringing toys, peppermint candy, and fruit to the good little children along the bayou and through the swamps of Louisiana. Papa Noel drove a little flat bottom boat called a pirogue and that was pulled by alligators. The alligator were magical and just like Santa's reindeer they could fly over the swamps should the cypress be too thick or the moon not shine enough and make the route too dangerous. The alligators lived with Papa Noel deep in the largest swamp known to little Cajuns the Atchafalaya Basin. The alligators often entertained Papa and Mama Noel with a bit of music to keep them in a Christmas mood all year.
