Description
You are dust and to dust you shall return. On Ash Wednesday each year we are reminded of our own mortality. I remember the first time I lost a priest that I knew. I realized my family would die. By the age of 4 I had already lost both of my grandfathers. I never realized that priest would die too. When I realized that, I realized The great sacrifice they make in caring for the church. The Jesuit Cemetery can be found in the small town of Grand Coteau, Louisiana. It is located between St. Charles Boromeo Catholic Church, St, Ignatius Elementary School, The Jesuit Seminary St. Charles College, St. Charles Boromeo Cemetery, and The Jesuit Spirituality Center Retreat House. The small town is often referee to as Acadiana's Holy Land. It is a place where my Acadiana travel during the 40 days of Lent.
The Jesuits came to Grand Coteau in 1838. The cemetery holds graves that date back to the mid- 1800's.
The building behind the cemetery is The Jesuit Spirituality Center Retreat House.
